🚌 Happy School Bus Driver Appreciation Day! 💙
Today, we celebrate the dedicated team of bus drivers at South Putnam Community School Corporation—the everyday heroes who ensure our Eagles get to and from school safely, with a smile.
From early mornings to all-weather driving, they go the extra mile—literally and figuratively—to support our students. Their patience, kindness, and professionalism set the tone for a positive school day and make them an essential part of our school family.
👏 Thank you, South Putnam bus drivers, for all you do! You represent the best of our school spirit, safety, and service.

Water service was restored to Central Elementary late Friday afternoon after the earlier water main break.
A huge THANK YOU to the incredible admin teams, staff, and students at Central Elementary, the middle school, and the high school for working together and staying flexible throughout the day. We appreciate your teamwork and patience!

We want to inform you that both Central Elementary and the Middle/High School experienced a temporary water outage today. While water service has already been restored at the Middle/High School, Central Elementary is still without water at this time.
To ensure the continued comfort and safety of our students, Central Elementary students will be escorted to the East end of the Middle School, the side closest to the elementary building, to use the restrooms as needed. Water bottles will also be provided to students as needed.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as circumstances change. We appreciate the patience and support of our students, staff, and families as we work through this temporary issue.

Dr. Corey Smith, Superintendent of South Putnam Community Schools, joined radio host Paul Gable live in the Giant FM WREB 94.3 studio to highlight the exciting progress across the district. From academic innovation, preschool to grade 12, to impactful construction projects transforming our learning environments, South Putnam is building a stronger future for students and the community.

Good evening, middle school families. South Putnam Middle School is investigating a concerning student statement related to the school. We take all such matters seriously and are working closely with the Putnam County Sheriff's Department. The student involved will not be in the building tomorrow as the investigation continues. The school administration and the student’s family are fully cooperating with law enforcement. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority, and all necessary precautions are in place for a safe school day tomorrow.

As we prepare for a potential snow and ice event forecasted to impact our area late Sunday into Monday, we want to ensure you are informed and prepared. Our priority is the safety of our students, staff, and families, and we’ve been monitoring this weather system closely since the beginning of the week.
Here is our plan:
1. Road Assessments:
• We will evaluate road conditions throughout the district on Sunday evening and again early Monday morning to make the best decision for everyone’s safety.
2. Schedule Adjustments:
• If school is canceled on Monday, January 6th, we will utilize our first built-in make-up day on Monday, January 20th.
• If weather continues to affect school beyond Monday, starting Tuesday, January 7th, we will transition to synchronous e-learning.
3. Device Pick-Up:
• To prepare for potential e-learning, we encourage families to pick up student devices at school today.
As of now, this plan is contingent upon the actual weather conditions as the storm develops. We will communicate updated information on Sunday evening and/or Monday morning once we have real-time data on road conditions.

Congratulations to Mr. Burgess, Mr. Rounds, Senior Danae Cline (IHSAA Student Advisory Committee member), and all of our coaches and players. South Putnam is one of the First Team AllSportsmanship schools recognized by the IHSAA. We are one of the schools who have achieved the state’s highest sportsmanship numbers so far this school year. Thank you for everyone's work and commitment to this priority. South Putnam chose the characteristics of integrity, communication, critical thinking and perseverance as our top "Profile of a Graduate" characteristics. We are all proud that our athletic programs reflect these characteristics as well while we strive to win. It is one of the many reasons our staff and students are proud to be Eagles!
