At the special board meeting this evening, the school board approved Joanna Muncie as the new Central Elementary School Assistant Principal. Mrs. Muncie's background in elementary education, educational initiatives, Response to Intervention (RTI) leadership and coordination, proactive communication, parent involvement, and elementary school administrative experiences aligns with South Putnam Community School Corporation's approach to highly effective educational leadership.
Mrs. Muncie's recommendations reflected the leadership capabilities and personal character experienced throughout the interview process. One recommendation mentioned that "Joanna is a self-starter, effective communicator, and has a great understanding of how students learn. Joanna is pleasant, personable, and professional in all that she does."
Another reference said, "Her involvement in administrative duties during a pandemic allowed her to gain valuable experience in seeing a big picture, balancing academic growth and emotional needs of students, considering many points of view, and making sure all stakeholders in a school are heard and respected. Joanna is a patient, student-centered leader who has intentionally built bridges with families, students, staff, and our community."
Further, another reflected that "One of her greatest strengths has been her ability to differentiate instruction, for students in her class as well as for staff professional development. She utilizes data to drive her decision-making, and her exceptional people skills make her a powerful instructional leader."
We are very excited to bring Mrs. Muncie to the administrative team at South Putnam Community Schools. Look for additional information from Mr. Gowen and Mrs. Muncie soon, as they are eager to develop relationships with staff, students, and parents as we get the school year off to an amazing start! Mrs. Muncie's Central Elementary School Assistant Principal contract starts July 1, 2023.
