At the special board meeting this evening, the school board approved Amanda Gibboney as the new Fillmore Elementary Principal. Mrs. Gibboney's extensive background in educational professional development, teaching, curriculum development, educational technology integration, instructional design and coaching, STEM integration, grant writing, and elementary school principal experience provides for a highly effective educational leader.
Her formal and informal recommendations, with many from South Putnam staff members, echoed the professionalism and excellence displayed in her application materials, resume, and throughout the interview process. For example, one reference stated, "I am strongly aware of the high standard of excellence that South Putnam has set. Knowing this, it is without hesitation that I endorse Amanda for this position. She will bring compassion, strength, and innovation with her as she actively joins in all efforts to improve our school and its outcomes."
Another reference said, "I consider her one of the best hires I have made in my career." He continued, "Her number one goal is to build relationships with students and staff. Amanda is the type of educator that can positively change the culture of a building through her efforts to build meaningful relationships."
Another recommendation also commented, "Her interactions, even dealing with serious disciplinary issues and emergencies, have been positive and well-received from students, staff, and parents alike. Her personality, work ethic, professionalism, and knowledge base would make her a positive contribution to any school."
We are excited to welcome Amanda to the South Putnam family and look forward to her starting immediately and developing relationships with staff, students, and families.
